The song "Seasons of My Life" is one of my songs. This version was arranged by Don Costa who arranged "My Way" and "New York, New York" for Frank Sinatra. If you turn your volume up you can here the strings that Don Costa was famous for in his arrangements. Sandy Contella is the vocalist and the album was released by EMI Records in London. Paul Anka was the producer and David Foster and others also worked on the album.
My song writing era was an important period in my life whether just writing lyrics or melodies. I enjoyed Music Publishing, our Recording Studio and our Record Label. To think I'm going to once again get involved with music and perhaps have the opportunity to write again and hopefully help others find their way into the business will be a pleasure. I found this site the other day about Frank Sinatra take a look.
It was a great honor to have Don Costa do the arrangement on "Seasons of My Life". What a talent he was!

Frank Sinatra and Don Costa
Photo of Frank Sinatra and Don Costa. Don Costa arranged quite a few of the Sinatra songs including "My Way" and "New York, New York" as well as many others. He arranged a song I wrote called "Seasons of my Life" which was on a Sandy Contella album during this same period. In fact Sinatra and Costa were working in the same studio at that time.
Don Costa loved to use strings in his arrangements. He died of a heart attack in New York City.
I don't think anyone could have been a better arranger than Don Costa. He was certainly one of the best.
He was also a producer. A terrific talent. Ernie Hatton
"Frank Sinatra had formed a new recording label, Reprise, and he hired Costa to arrange one of his albums, Sinatra and Strings, released in 1962. This set of standard ballads would remain one of the most critically-acclaimed works of Sinatra's entire Reprise period. Costa's largely string-based orchestrations were outstanding, but he was rarely called upon to write in a similar style again during the long association with Sinatra which followed, as the singer concentrated on more contemporary projects with him. Among the standout tracks on Sinatra and Strings are "All or Nothing at All", an unusual verse-only version of "Stardust" (in absolute juxtaposition to the many chorus-only versions of the song), a ballad rendition of "Night and Day" which provides a lovely contrast to Sinatra's more familiar big band version, and a rendition of "Come Rain or Come Shine" which frequently is included "Best of" compilations from Sinatra's Reprise years. With its atmospheric, muted trumpet intro and its dynamic, bluesy string interlude, it's an extraordinary "tour de force" for Costa". from Internet Biography

Can't see me? That's because I'm on the "B" Side of this single (-:
That's because I'm on the B side of this Paul Anka hit with Sandy Contella. Hey, you can still buy it and the album online. This came out in 1980! Song title, "Don't ever say Goodbye" mine "Seasons".
Over the years I had the opportunity to work with some wonderful people. One songwriter, Thornton Cline, in Nashville wrote a few songs that I recorded. The song below by Engelbert was written by Thornton Cline and Susannah Ryan Wilson. This is a live performance and not the song as recorded by Engelbert and Gloria Gaynor on the Album by the same title,
Engelbert's real name was Arnold George Dorsey, The real Engelbert Humperdinck was a German composer 1854-1921. My two favorite songs by Engelbert are "After the Lovin" and "This Moment in Time"

Every song I've written has at least a little bit of me in it. There's some kind of connection. "Reflections" and "That's how fresh your love Is" are about my wife along with many others.
