A good place to begin your family research is at Family.org.
The origin of the male and female lines. On both we find, in Europe, French, Spanish, Orcadian, Italian, Basque, Finnish and about 15% that has to be determined but possibly Swiss.
It would be impossible to give the complete ethnic background on all the families but it is quite amazing how close the DNA make-up is. The male DNA of both the Hatton and Hall families [and who knows what the names were originally]. We do know that Hatton has many origins and Hall as well but in this case it looks like HALLA at least back to perhaps 1300 and Hatton in the area was FITZRICHARD in the 1100s [son of Richard] It doesn't matter because they are both from the same tribe of CELTS. See explanation and map.
The Irish families [Gallagher, Duffy, other others] came from County Mayo and County Sligo. I've been placed in a mtDNA study of Galway Bay. In looking at this map you can get a good idea of where my grandmother's family likely lived for a very long time.
Depending on "further testing" the male direct lines of Hatton and Hall [YDNA] are from Northern Ireland and Western, Scotland. Of course the complete DNA tests shows the distant origins in Europe. See the private site.
